The finished image

All that is left now is to join the two layers together, flatten them, irrevokably combining the layers together to form a single layer once more.

Select LAYER, FLATTEN IMAGE

Then FILE, SAVE AS to save this image giving it a unique name while still retaining the original unadulterated image for future use.
