Monimail

Tucked away in the woods near Letham is Monimail Tower. This is all that is left of a 16th century palace built for the Archbishops of St. Andrews, including the notorious Cardinal Beaton, who was murdered by a bunch of irate Protestants.

The tower has been restored to its former glory and items discovered during the restoration are displayed within the tower.

On the roof is a small plaque, made of lead commomorating the lead roofers who re-roofed the tower. The Inscription reads, "1994 Leadwork by Andrew Gordon, with Garry Buckley, Ian Dunlop, Clive Adgo, Theos Jewitt."
