Anstruther

Anstruther or Ainster to the locals houses the Scottish Fisheries Museum. From small beginnings this museum has grown to become an important archive of an industry that was so important to the people of the East Neuk (North East corner) of Fife and to the East of Scotland in general. Now the industry has virtually all disappeared.

I have no images of the exhibits inside the museum, flash photography may damage the delicate artefacts. These two images are of the fishing boat Research, the last remaining example of the Zulu class fishing boat. It has had a very long and varied career and in its later years courted much controversy and now looking back the Scottish Fisheries Museum was right to do what it did to preserve this boat.
