Dumglow

To the south of Kinross, the skyline is dominated by the Cleish Hills. These hills form the southern border of the county with the border running to the south of Dumglow, along the northern shore of Loch Glow and then eastwards into Blairadam Forest. Good views of the county from the top.

Start. From the forest entrance continue up the winding forest track and take the first road on the left.

Follow the road to the turning circle at end of the track . For those that like a challenge, it is possible to cycle up the firebreak to the top of the tree-line.

The main track continues for a short while before ending at another turning circle. Good views of Kinross can be seen from this road.

The forest road running northwards from Drumglow to the Cleish Road is a straight up and down route. To get into the forest you have to cross an open field, with grazing livestock. The climb is hard and unrelenting and the descent is fast and deceptively bumpy.

The forest to the south of Cleish castle has never been explored due to the ever present “Bull in Field” notice on the gate.
